Product Description

Auto Cable/Auto Mobile Cable is a low-voltage wiring used in road vehicles, featuring high-temperature resistance and thin-wall PVC insulation. They are designed for 12V or 24V systems (maximum 60V) and are standardized under ISO 6722 (Class B) or BS 6862.

Key Specifications & Characteristics:
Temperature Range: Typically -40°C to +105°C (with, in some cases, excursions up to 120°C or 125°C).
Conductor Material: Annealed plain copper, designed for low resistance.
Insulation: High-temperature hard-grade PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), which offers excellent resistance to abrasion, moisture, petrol, diesel, lubricating oils, and diluted acids.
Standards: ISO 6722:2006 (Class B) .

Common Cable Sizes and Ratings:
Automotive cables are often identified by the number of strands and the diameter of each strand (e.g., 14/0.30mm = 14 strands, 0.30mm diameter).
0.50 mm² (16/0.20): Approx. 11 Amps.
0.75 mm² (24/0.20): Approx. 14 Amps.
1.0 mm² (32/0.20): Approx. 16.5 Amps.
1.5 mm² (21/0.30): Approx. 21 Amps.
2.0 mm² (28/0.30): Approx. 25 Amps.
3.0 mm² (44/0.30): Approx. 27.5 - 33 Amps.
6.0 mm² (84/0.30): Approx. 50+ Amps.

Types of Automotive Cable Insulation:
Thin Wall (TWP): Standard in modern European cars, designed for weight and space savings in harnesses.
Standard Wall (GPT): Older standard for general, rugged,, or exterior wiring.
Cross-linked (GXL/TXL): Higher temperature resistance (up to 125°C - 150°C).

Typical Applications:
9/0.30mm: Side/tail lamps, instrument panels.
14/0.30mm: Indicators, fog lamps, general wiring.
28/0.30mm: Headlamps, wipers, electric fans.
44/0.30mm - 84/0.30mm: Charging circuits, main power feeds, starter cables.
